A bold red velvet cake with spicy cinnamon frosting to match Aries’ fiery and energetic personality.

Ingredients

For the Red Velvet Cake:
  • 2 ½ cups (310g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
  • 1 ½ cups (360ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
For the Spicy Cinnamon Frosting:
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat!)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

Instructions

Make the Cake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, oil, eggs, vanilla, vinegar, and red food coloring.
  4. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Frosting:

  1. Beat butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well.
  2. Add cinnamon, cayenne pepper (if using), vanilla, and cream. Beat until smooth and spreadable.

Assemble:

  1. Spread a layer of frosting on one cake layer, then place the second layer on top.
  2. Cover the entire cake with frosting.
  3. For extra “firecracker” vibes, decorate with red and gold sprinkles or edible glitter!
