Sticky Pork Belly Bites

Ingredients:

For the Pork Belly:

  • 500g pork belly, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for crispiness)
  • 1 tbsp oil (for frying)

For the Sticky Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey (or brown sugar)
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar (or lime juice)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare & Cook the Pork Belly

  1. Season & Coat: In a bowl, season pork belly pieces with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Toss with cornstarch for extra crispiness.
  2. Pan-Fry: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add pork belly and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Sticky Sauce

  1. In the same pan, reduce heat to medium. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, vinegar, and water. Stir well and simmer until slightly thickened (about 2-3 minutes).

Step 3: Coat the Pork & Serve

  1. Return crispy pork belly to the pan, tossing in the sauce until well-coated and sticky.
  2. Cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
